Data Science for Social Impact

We are committed to expanding the accessibility of data science and computer science knowledge through our targeted outreach programs. These initiatives are designed to empower both students and professionals from diverse fields such as healthcare and climate change, offering them specialized online training.

Our courses are crafted to demystify data science and provide practical, real-world applications that enhance their work and research capabilities. Currently, we offer the Professional and Executive Development Program (PEDP) on Data Science for Social Impact, focusing on training a cohort of social sector professionals with interdisciplinary subject-matter expertise in climate and health data.

Program Overview

• Empowering social sector professionals to engage with data
• 20 weeks’ online program with 4 hours of lectures and 3.5 hours of hands-on every week
• Two tracks:
  • Data Science and Analytics for Social Impact
  • Data Science for Social Impact Management
• Two segments:
  • Generic Data Sciences Skills
  • Data Science for Climate and Healthcare
• Experiential learning with hands-on assignments and capstone project with on-field partners

Cohorts

• Cohort 1: 50 professionals certified, 5 fellowships with J-PAL

Faculty and Scholarship

• Taught by leading faculty from Ashoka, IIT, AIIMS, and industry
• 100% scholarship for 50 participants; 66%-20% for the rest
